MASAFUSA LINEAGE A Satsuma Tantō in Silver Mounts Edo period (1615-1868), 17th century Hirazukuri, iorimune , forged in masame hada and with a suguha tempered edge ending in a ko-maru bōshi , the tang slightly machiokuri with two holes, sujikai file marks, and signed Masafusa , with a one-piece gilt habaki ; the 19th-century koshira-e comprising a silver saya and tsuka chiseled on the surface with crashing waves in kebori and applied with gold and silver plovers, the silver kojiri, kurikata, fuchi-gashira, kozuka , and tsuba all chiseled with crashing waves Nagasa (length from tip of blade to beginning of the tang) 29cm (11 3/8in) long.
