Who we are
Shtein Gallery is an independent online art shop at shteingal.com. We offer original paintings, prints and multiples, photography, and art and objects from Japan, China, Africa, the Indian subcontinent, the Islamic world, Southeast Asia, Oceania and the Americas. The shop is operated by Varando LTD.
What we sell
- Modern & Contemporary Art: paintings and mixed-media works by living and 20th-century artists, often with the dimensions in the title.
- Classical Art & Impressionism: older paintings, including works by named artists and works attributed to a school, circle or period.
- Prints & Multiples: lithographs, etchings and other editions after artists such as Monet, Karel Appel and Ibrahim Kodra.
- Photography: photographic prints, from street photography to portraits of well-known figures.
- Japanese Art: ceramics, bronzes, masks and lacquer, many from the Shōwa period.
- Chinese Art: porcelain, earthenware, textiles and small objects.
- African & Tribal Art: masks, figures and paintings from across Africa and the Caribbean.
- Indian & Islamic Art: metalwork, arms, boxes, jewellery and decorative objects.
- Southeast Asian, Oceanic & American Art: Buddha figures, puppets, silver ornaments and Native American pieces.
Every work is an individual, one-off piece. When a work sells, it is not replaced with an identical one, so the collection is always changing.
Where our pieces come from
Our works come from private collections and specialist sources across Europe and beyond. Titles follow the usual art-market conventions: a named artist with dates means the work is given to that artist, while wording such as "after", "circle of" or "school" means it is connected to an artist or tradition rather than by the artist's own hand. Read the title and description closely, and check the dimensions against the space you have in mind.
How buying from Shtein Gallery works
- Free shipping. Shipping is free on every order, with no delivery charge added at checkout.
- A ship-by date on every product. Each product page shows the date the item ships by, and the same date appears in your basket, at checkout and in your order confirmation. Once your order is on its way, we email you a tracking number. Full details are on our shipping policy page.
- Secure payment. You pay by card at checkout through Stripe. Prices are shown in euros.
- 14-day returns. If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA or UK, you can change your mind and return most orders within 14 days of delivery, no reason needed. See our returns policy for how it works.

Frequently asked
What does "after" or "school of" mean in a title?
"After Rembrandt" means a copy or version based on that artist's work. "School" or "circle of" means a work made by someone working in the style or around the artist. Only a plain artist name with dates attributes the work to that artist.
Does shipping cost extra?
No. Shipping is free on every order at Shtein Gallery, and each product page shows the date the work ships by.
Can I return a work of art?
Consumers in the EU, EEA and UK can return most orders within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason. The returns policy explains the process.
