JEAN BEAUDUIN (BELGIAN 1851-1916) THE GOOSE HERD Oil on canvas Signed (lower left) 55 x 46.5cm (21½ x 18¼in.) Unframed Provenance: Sale, Chiswick, British and European Fine Art with Portrait Miniatures, 3 October 2017, set 236 The work is unframed. The canvas has become a little lose across to the upper left corner of the stretcher, where the material has deteriorated away from the nails. There is some craquelure to the top section of the work. There is some lifting and abrasions to the paint surface long the extreme edges and corners of the work, notably to the top left and lower right corner. And there are two areas of later retouching seen along the lower edge. UV light reveals an uneven varnish.
