BRITISH SCHOOL (LATE 19TH CENTURY) MUSHROOMS Oil on millboard 42.5 x 30cm (16½ x 11¾in.) Fine craquelure is present across the image with some more prominent areas of paint shrinkage. The surface does however appear to be otherwise stable. Abrasions to the extreme edges likely caused by previous framing. Scattered superficial scratches. Inspection under UV reveals some scattered areas of strengthening but it is possible that some fluorescing areas are original pigments. The surface presents a discoloured varnish and a layer of dirt. The work would benefit from a professional clean.
